I decided to put it in a jar.
Then, I asked Elisha to take pictures of it....

Peach Greek yogurt, huckleberries, granola and a banana. YUM.

It's so pretty!!!
Yes, I just called my breakfast pretty.

The Table of Christmas Past

My friends Jessica, Elisha and Abby came over
Christmas morning for a fun Brunch (breakfast for lunch).

I LOVE hosting parties.
I LOVE decorating.
I LOVE setting pretty tables.
I thank my mom for all of the above.

So here's what the Christmas table looked like...
The first the pictures were taken by Abby
Jars filled with Epson salt and a candle were my fave.

Pine-cones and yarn-poms were scattered in the middle.

I layered a white tablecloth with burlap and a plaid flannel.

The girls had a yummy candy cane and chocolate heart on their plate
and their initial made from Chocolate.

Christmas table.

So there you have it!
The Craft of Christmas Past
The Decor of Christmas Past
and finally
The Table of Christmas Past.

Better late than never... RIGHT!???!!

The Decor of Christmas Past

My Christmas decor was very simple this year.
I used the scraps of fabric from
the Christmas card holders to decorate throughout the house.

Fabric scraps on the tree.

They are kind of hard to see,
but they are there!

Fabric scrap garland that was placed in my living room.

Fabric scraps placed in a jar with berry twigs.

I had high hopes of making popcorn and berry garlands for my tree,
but I ended up only making one strand. HA!
So, I strung that garland over the kitchen table.

I filled jars with the leftover popcorn and berries
and placed them in the kitchen and living room.

It was a simple Christmas.

Also, I'm pretty sure my neighbors think I'm crazy
after this little photo-shoot in the shared backyard.
Oh well!

My "Go-To" Cookie

I LOVE trying new recipes, but sometimes I need a familiar and safe recipe... a "go-to".

Last night my roomie and I made some treats for our neighbors and as I was deciding what to bake I thought of
Kitchen Sink Cookies by Martha Stewart....
my "go-to" cookie recipe.

We baked them, they were delish and today my "go-to" cookies and I had a photo-shoot in the snow.
HA!

Here's the recipie and some pictures.

Ingredients

Makes 4 about 4 dozen
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed light-brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup sweetened flake coconut
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheets with Silpat baking mats or parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl with a wooden spoon, beat butter, sugar and brown sugar together until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until well blended. Stir in vanilla.
  3. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Gradually stir into butter mixture until well blended. Add oats, chips, coconut, raisins, and walnuts, and stir until well blended.
  4. Drop batter by heaping tablespoons or with a 1 ounce ice-cream scoop onto silpat about 2 inches apart. Press tops down with the bottom of a glass to flatten cookies evenly. Bake until golden, about 16 to 18 minutes. Cool on pan for 2 minutes. Remove from pan, and finish cooling completely on wire rack.

Perfect Mason

Sometimes wrapping paper just doesn't cut it!
For Sara's birthday some girlfriends and I took her to yummy sushi for dinner
and then all pitched in to get her a fun gift.
I decided that the gifts should be put in Mason Jars.
Best. Decision. Ever.
Here's what we gave...
Scarf (yes, I had to SCRUNCH it in there, but it was worth it) and candy.

Make-up, gloves, candy and a pair of earrings.

Socks and more candy.

I ended up really loving the tops of the jars (silly, I know).
The plaid one I LOVE combined with the white and navy fabrics, plus the burlap
and then I wrapped the gold lid with white yarn... SIGH... it looked so cute.

One more picture (all photos by Izzi Ray)...

Sometimes, it's fun to try and think outside the box... literally.

A Woodland Baby Shower

So EXCITED to finally share these photos with you!

Last week we through our friend Jenn an EPIC
woodland themed baby shower.
This is Jenn and Devan's 1st child and
his name is Fawkes (pronounced "fox"),
so we thought a woodland theme was fitting.
Sara and I made a tree in her living room out of brown grocery bags.
The "leaves" were circles cut from scrapbook paper.

Name tags from the same paper.

For dinner we served soup, salad and bread.

I found these PERFECT mugs to serve the soup in.
At 10 cents a piece, I think it was a pretty good deal.

Inspiration for Toadstool Salad came from one of my
FAVE blogs The City Cradle.

The drink station was SUPER fun!
Pier 1 donated the FANTASTIC FOX window decal
that we placed on the wall.

We used clothes pins to attach tea, cider and coco packets
to a large branch.

My FAVORITE straws from Garnish
in my favorite vintage blue Bell jar.

The DESSERT island was very yummy.
We had a "Tree of Sweets" where we hung carmel corn in cones
made from the same scrapbook paper.

Porcupine cupcakes.

Owl S'mores from Living Locurto.

S'more cupcakes placed on tree stumps
and covered by glassed domes purchased
at the thrift store for $3.

Fawkes Food was made up of munchies that Jenn has been
enjoying while pregnant.

Everyone got some Fawkes Food
to take home as a party favor.

This may be my favorite party thrown and DEFINITELY
my favorite pictures from a party!
Thanks Kevin for letting Elisha and I borrow your camera!
