The Craft of Christmas Past

Yes, I know...
Christmas was SO last month and
in blog-land that means Christmas was SO 2 months ago,
BUT
I still wanted to blog about my Christmas crafts and decor!

My theme this year was some fabrics that I found;
mostly reds and greens with touches of burlap and flannel.

I had the idea to put the fabric in embroidery hoops
I purchased from the thrift store,
add rows of twine, yarn or rope and
use mini clothes pins to hold my Christmas cards.

Here's the finished project....

My FAVE!!!

So cute and tiny.

They were hung on the door and staircase banister,

placed throughout the house

and hung outside by the front door.

These 2 had the Christmas Eve invite from my church, Fresh Life Church.

Bonus artsy picture.

The Decor & Table of Christmas Past will be up soon.
Merry Christmas!

Perfect Mason

Sometimes wrapping paper just doesn't cut it!
For Sara's birthday some girlfriends and I took her to yummy sushi for dinner
and then all pitched in to get her a fun gift.
I decided that the gifts should be put in Mason Jars.
Best. Decision. Ever.
Here's what we gave...
Scarf (yes, I had to SCRUNCH it in there, but it was worth it) and candy.

Make-up, gloves, candy and a pair of earrings.

Socks and more candy.

I ended up really loving the tops of the jars (silly, I know).
The plaid one I LOVE combined with the white and navy fabrics, plus the burlap
and then I wrapped the gold lid with white yarn... SIGH... it looked so cute.

One more picture (all photos by Izzi Ray)...

Sometimes, it's fun to try and think outside the box... literally.

Smitten for My Mittens

When my mom came to visit me a few weeks ago she gave me a pair of adorable mittens. She then informed me that not only did she make them, but she made them out of wool sweaters... WHAT?!?!

She is selling these beauties and had an order for 24 pairs by the end of the month, so we shopped and shopped and shopped!

She then washes and cuts up the sweaters or vice versa, whatevs.

My mom has so many good ideas! She told me to use the neckline for a headband, ghetto fab.

So many sweaters!

A whole suitcase full!!!

BUT then there were mittens!

They are lined with removable fleece, so they are nice and warm and NOT itchy.

Took some pictures for my mom up at Glacier.
Maybe I've missed my calling as a mitten model??? HA!

I should have bundled in a big winter jacket or waited till some snow was on the ground, but ce la vie!
Mom, Ang and I tried to guess how many sweaters she purchased and I won with a total of 34 (I guessed 37).

LOVE my momma and LOVE my mittens!

De- Vine

I went to a baby shower a few weeks ago (when I made the delish Salted Caramel Cupcakes) and the gals throwing the party (with a jungle theme) made cute vines out of tissue paper. They are adorable, easy to make and cheap... what's not to love?!?!?

Creative Calendar

My calendar in my office. Props to my friend Debbie for the inspiration.

I took a basic, ugly, laminated calendar that I purchased at the office supply store, cut it apart and taped it to cute scrapbook paper. I then used ticky-tack to attach the scrapbook paper to the wall and wah-la!

This is such an easy, inexpensive way to add a little color and some fun to your office or home. It would also be super cute with kids art, pictures, letters that spell something, recipes and many other things.

tissue-poms

we have a building at church called The Corner (it's caddy-corner to the church). we use it for all children under the age of 3 during services, Veritas (the college group) on monday nights and various meetings. well, because the room is a multiple purpose, we don't put up anything that can't be taken down every week. i was tired of my boring room for the kids, so i decided to add some color! i found these fabulous curtains at bed bath and beyond and purchased matching tissue paper to make pom-poms (thank you Martha Stewart). i LOVE these curtains for the corner because they are fun and vibrant and NOT pastels, which so many kid/baby stuff is. here it is...

loving my new curtains and tissue-poms!!!
poms in progress
love this color combo
my fabulous helpers Alyson
and Jenn
poms decorate the room for a meeting
and the kids love them too!
i heart them!!!!
